Norma L. (Merrills) Sora, 90, of Southborough, died on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, after a period of declining health.
She was the devoted wife of Peter L. Sora for the past 67 years.
Norma was a nurse at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham for many years. She was a member of St. Matthew Church in Southborough, where she taught CCD. Norma was also a member of Southborough Catholic Women’s Club and their bowling league. She enjoyed shopping, bingo and roller skating in her younger days.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Carol Cook and her husband Donald of Mendon; Peter Sora and his wife Gail of Londonderry, NH; Rosemary McGowan and her husband Leo of Milford; Brian Sora and his wife Ellen of Sutton; Grandchildren, Steven and Timothy Cook; Carlo Macchi and Melissa Kapatoes; Kelly Viera and Patrick McGowan; Rachel Nieminen and Brian Sora; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her grandson, LCPL Peter "PJ" Sora, Jr. and her sister, Virginia Gray.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 21, from 4:30 to 7:30 at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Southborough.
A Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 22, at 11AM at St. Matthew Church, Highland St., Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
