Anthony V.Manzelli, 74, of Southborough passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at UMass Medical Center, after a short illness.
He was the beloved husband Barbara (Salvaggio) Manzelli for the past 51 years.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of Martin and Adeline (Dicicco) Manzelli. At the age of 12 his family moved to Watertown where he graduated from Watertown High School. He served in the National Guard for over 11 years. He started his career at Georgia-Pacific Co, from 1956 to 1969. During that time he met Barbara and married her din 1961. They bought a house in 1966 and moved to Southborough. In 1970 he created a successful businesses, A. V. Manzelli Construction and in 1992 he added Shortload Redi-Mix Concrete Company. His last big construction project was building his daughter and son in law’s home.
 
Tony was a very active member in the Knights of Columbus, starting his membership in 1971 with the Alhambra Council #88 in Worcester, then transferring it to Phil Sheridan Council #119 in Southborough. He was a Grand Knight from 1983 to 1985 and again in 1991 to 1993. He was appointed District Deputy and served from 1985 to 1988, along with other various committees under every State Deputy. Tony became a 4th Degree Knight and went up the chairs in the Edward F. McSweeney Assembly #400, finally becoming a Navigator in 1989. He was appointed State Master of the Bishop James A. Healy Province, Massachusetts District in 2002. Tony continued to serve his brother Knights coordinating a drive to send over 30,000 tootsie rolls to our service men and women in Iraq. He has aided the veterans and veteran hospitals in Massachusetts. In addition he found time to serve as Scout and Pack Master of Boy Scout Pack #26, and serve on the Parish Council for St. Matthew Church of Southborough, where he was an active member.
 
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Michael A. Manzelli of Midlothian, VA; Barbara Trychon and her husband David of Douglas; his siblings Helen Mulligan and her husband Paul of Chelmsford; Vincent Manzelli and his wife Sylvia of Newton; his grandchildren, Christopher and Stephanie Manzelli; Matthew and Jeffrey Trychon ; and several nieces and nephews.
 
He is predeceased by his daughter Lynne Marie Manzelli and his daughter in law Gail Manzelli
 
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 12, from 2 to 5 PM at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Southborough.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 13, at 11 AM at St. Matthew Church, Highland St. Southborough. Burial will be private in the Newton Cemetery.
